The X-612 is a large sailboat designed by the maritime architect Niels Jeppesen in the mid nineties. Only a few boats have been produced. The X-612 is built by the Danish yard X-Yachts A/S.

Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.
The hull is a double hull which improves the indoor climate. Especially when the water is colder than the air in the cabin, then the double hull insulates against cold water and reduce the condense water in the cabin.


Interior

The interior is like most other boats made of teak. Teak has the advantage of being naturally very oily and therefore water-repellent, which is suitable on boats.
The boat is equipped with 4 cabins, 10 - 11 berths, a galley, 700.0 liter fresh water capacity and toilet facility.


Rig

The X-612 is equipped with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.


Keel

Fin keel

The X-612 is equipped with a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a full keel.

The boat can only enter major marinas as the draft is about 3.10 - 3.20 meter (10.17 - 10.47 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.


Engine

The X-612 has been equipped with different engine alternatives.

Alternative 1:

X-612 may be equipped with an inboard Yanmar 4JH3-DTBE diesel engine

Alternative 2:

The boat may be equipped with an inboard diesel engine at 110 hp (81 kW). Calculated max speed is about 8.1 knots
