The Walsted 42 is a large sailboat designed by the American maritime architect bureau Sparkman & Stephens in the early eighties. The Walsted 42 is built by the Danish yard A. Walsteds Baadeværft.

Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

Keel

The Walsted 42 has been built with different keel alternatives.

Fin keel

The Walsted 42 is equipped with a fin keel. A boat with a fin keel is more manoeuvrable but has less directional stability than a similar boat with a full keel.

DaggerBoard aka Sword

The Walsted 42 is equipped with a daggerboard keel. A daggerboard is a lifting keel that can be lowered and raised, allowing the boat to enter shallow waters as well.
