The Forna 37 is a sailboat designed by the Dutch maritime architect E. G. van de Stadt. The Forna 37 is built by the Danish yard Svendborg Yacht Services.

Hull

The hull is made of aluminium. Aluminum is strong and forgiving. Where an impact on a fiberglass hull will result in major gelcoat damage and possible cracking, an aluminum hull will probably only have a scratch or a small bend. The only concern is electrolysis. Ensure that you have proper sacrificial anodes installed.
Some boats has a hull made of Steel.


Interior

The interior is like most other boats made of teak. Teak has the advantage of being naturally very oily and therefore water-repellent, which is suitable on boats.
The boat is equipped with 3 cabins, 6 berths, a galley, 300.0 liter fresh water capacity, toilet facility and 20.0 liter waste water capacity.

The Forna 37 is equipped with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a gennaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.

Engine

The boat may be equipped with an inboard Yanmar 3JH 2TE diesel engine at 48 hp (35 kW). Calculated max speed is about 7.3 knots

The transmission is a shaft drive. A shaft drive will in the long run require less maintenance than other types of drive e.g. a sail drive.
