The Oceanquest 35 is a sailboat designed by the French maritime architect Edward George Dubois in the early nineties. Less than 100 boats have been built. The Oceanquest 35 is built by the British yard Westerly Yacht Construction Ltd.

Hull

Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. A hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.


Interior

The boat is equipped with 2 cabins, 4 berths, a galley, 270 liters (71 US gallons, 59 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity, toilet facility and 80 liters (21 US gallons, 17 imperial gallons) waste water capacity.

The headroom is above average

The interior is like most other boats made of teak. Teak has the advantage of being naturally very oily and therefore water-repellent, which is suitable on boats.


Rig

The Oceanquest 35 is built with a masthead rig. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.


Keel

The Oceanquest 35 has been built with different keel alternatives.

Fin keel

One option is a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.37 - 1.47 meter (4.49 - 4.79 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Bilge keel

Another option is a bilge keel. A bilge keel is a twin keel, which allows the boat to be beached. Bilge keels are the most popular keel for tidal waters.

Engine

The fuel tank has a capacity of 157 liters (41 US gallons, 34 imperial gallons).

The boat may be equipped with an inboard Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine at 30 hp (22 kW). Cruise speed is 6.0 knots. Max speed is 7.0 knots.

The transmission is a shaft drive. A shaft drive will in the long run require less maintenance than other types of drive e.g. a sail drive.
