Hull

Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. A hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

Interior

The boat is equipped with 2-3 cabins, a galley, 780 liters (206 US gallons, 171 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity, toilet facility and 335 liters (88 US gallons, 73 imperial gallons) waste water capacity.

The headroom is above average

The interior is like most other boats made of teak. Teak has the advantage of being naturally very oily and therefore water-repellent, which is suitable on boats.

Engine

The fuel tank has a capacity of 1190 liters (314 US gallons, 261 imperial gallons).

The Marex 440 Scandinavia has been equipped with different engine alternatives.

Alternative 1:

The boat may be equipped with dual inboard Volvo Penta D6-480 diesel engines at 960 hp (715 kW).

The transmission is a shaft drive. A shaft drive will in the long run require less maintenance than other types of drive e.g. a sail drive.

Alternative 2:

Marex 440 Scandinavia may be equipped with dual inboard Volvo Penta D6-440 DPI diesel engines at 880 hp (655 kW).

The transmission is a Z-drive aka sterndrive.

Alternative 3:

The boat may be equipped with dual inboard Volvo Penta D6 IPS 650 diesel engines at 960 hp (715 kW).

The transmission is a Z-drive aka sterndrive.

Curiosities

Powerboat?

In Denmark, you are required to have achieved a 'powerboat driving license' in order to sail a powerboat.
In this context a boat is considered a powerboat if:

Equation for Danish definition of a powerboat
Danish definition of a powerboat
According to this definition this boat is categorized as a Powerboat.

Maintenance

Bottom Paint

When buying anti-fouling bottom paint, it's nice to know how much to buy. The surface of the wet bottom is about 52m2 (559 ft2).
Based on this, your favourite maritime shop can tell you the quantity you need.

Note: If you use a paint roller you will need more paint than if you use a paintbrush.
