Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.

Interior

The boat is equipped with 2 berths and 20.0 liter fresh water capacity.

Engine

The Antares 6 has been equipped with different engine alternatives.

Alternative 1:

The boat may be equipped with an inboard Yanmar diesel engine at 110 hp (81 kW).

Alternative 2:

Antares 6 may be equipped with an outboard Yamaha F115 gasoline engine at 115 hp (85 kW). The speed is 18.0 knots.

Alternative 3:

The boat may be equipped with an outboard Suzuki gasoline engine at 90 hp (67 kW).

The fuel tank has a capacity of 100.0 liters (26 US gallons, 21 imperial gallons).

Sailing characteristics

This section covers widely used rules of thumb to describe the sailing characteristics. Please note that even though the calculations are correct, the interpretation of the results might not be valid for extreme boats.

EU classification

Antares 6 holds two CE certifications:

If less than 6 in on board the boat is by European Union certified as Class C. INSHORE:
Designed for voyages in coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers where conditions up to, and including, wind force 6 (Beaufort scale) and significant wave heights up to, and including, 2 m may be experienced.

If less than 6 in on board the boat is by European Union certified as Class D. SHELTERED WATERS:
Designed for voyages on sheltered coastal waters, small bays, small lakes, rivers and canals when conditions up to, and including, wind force 4 (Beaufort scale) and significant wave heights up to, and including, 0,3 m may be experienced, with occasional waves of 0,5 m maximum height, for example from passing vessels.

Immersion rate

The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Antares 6 is about 92 kg/cm, alternatively 519 lbs/inch.
Meaning: if you load 92 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 519 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Sailing statistics

This section is statistical comparison with similar boats of the same category. The basis of the following statistical computations is our unique database with more than 26,000 different boat types and 350,000 data points.

L/B (Length Beam Ratio)

What is L/B (Length Beam Ratio)?

The l/b ratio for Antares 6 is 2.27.

Slim Wide 93% 0 50 100
Compared with other similar motor boats it is more spacy than 93% of all other designs. It seems that the designer has chosen a significantly more spacy hull design.
