Basic specs.

The Antarès 11 also known as Antares 11 OB is a motorboat designed by the French maritime architect bureau Sarrazin Design in the early twenties. The Antarès 11 is built by the French yard Bénéteau.

Hull

Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

Both the hull and the deck is a sandwich construction which improves the indoor climate. Especially when the water is colder than the air in the cabin, then the double hull insulates against cold water and reduce the condense water in the cabin. The core material in the sandwich construction is balsa.

Interior

The boat is equipped with 2 cabins, 5 berths, a galley, 200.0 liter fresh water capacity, toilet facility and 80.0 liter waste water capacity.

Engine

The Antarès 11 has been equipped with different engine alternatives.

Alternative 1:

The boat may be equipped with dual outboard Suzuki gasoline engines at 600 hp (447 kW). Max speed is 33.0 knots.

Alternative 2:

Antarès 11 may be equipped with dual outboard Mercury F250 XXL gasoline engines at 500 hp (372 kW).

The fuel tank has a capacity of 800.0 liters (211 US gallons, 175 imperial gallons).

Sailing characteristics

Antarès 11 holds two CE certifications:

If less than 8 in on board the boat is by European Union certified as Class B. OFFSHORE:

Designed for offshore voyages where conditions up to, and including, wind force 8 (Beaufort scale) and significant wave heights up to, and including, 4 m may be experienced.

If less than 11 in on board the boat is by European Union certified as Class C. INSHORE:

Designed for voyages in coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers where conditions up to, and including, wind force 6 (Beaufort scale) and significant wave heights up to, and including, 2 m may be experienced.

Immersion rate

The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Antarès 11 is about 262 kg/cm, alternatively 1469 lbs/inch.
Meaning: if you load 262 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 1469 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Maintenance

Hull / Deck

As balsa wood is used as sandwich core material special care must be taken in relation to work that require penetration of the sandwich construction in order to to prevent water to get in contact with the balsa wood. Otherwise the balsa wood will eventually rotten and be expensive/impossible to repair.
